Book Five: Love in the Time of Cholera

Comments

wow you just won in my 5/365 game! congrats!
I found the book disturbing!! Especially when he is sleeping with the fourteen year old little girl who he is supposedly the guardian of. That disgusted me to no end. Argghhh!! I have the chills!
[this is good]
I love this book so much! :) And I want to see the recently made movie of the film too. I bought the movie soundtrack already.... :)
Yay congrats to me! I think you should do 25/365, that is 2 per month... so you're a little behind but you could catch up. We can even read 1 of the same books each month so we can talk about it!! I have a Google document with the list of books I want to read this year, I can share if you REALLY want!
That part was disturbing, but the fact that stuff like that really happens is even worse. I guess it made the book even more real... the depths of which Florentino was willing to go to get over his love for Fermina. Overall I liked it.
I can't wait to see the movie either! I saw some photos of it on IMDB the other day and it looks really good! Has it already come out in theaters yet? I'm so behind on this stuff. I'll have to check out the score, I LOVE movie music. :D
well share the doc already, sheesh, anyways 25/365 ... yeah right, but I'll start reading the compass for you!
Sadly, I missed it in the theaters... But it is on Netflix already! :) Netflix is so cool if you are a film lover... starting at $4.95 a month.

I posted a song from the film by Shakira HERE :)

I agree on pretty much all counts. I'd wanted to read this for years, because of the unusual title and all the rave reviews -- but it was a bit of a disappointment, really. At the end of it all I felt like his crazy love for her was just a bunch of words. And it was painfully slow!
Hehe, I am indeed a Netflix subscriber, except the annoying thing is that the top 15 movies in my queue are all on "Long wait" or "Very long wait" which is super annoying. I want to see the new releases now! If there were a Blockbuster near my house I'd definitely switch to them and get unlimited in-store rentals for the same price as Netflix. Oh well!
I feel the same about quite a lot of books that have rave reviews... I suppose I expect too much from them? I've heard a lot of his other books are good but I don't know that I'll necessarily read them any time soon. But this book was a little slow, it definitely put me behind on my scheduled reading (one book per week) because I just wasn't into it. >.<
